There are excellent resources right in FSX, If you were to start at the Kindergarten stuff and diligently work through the entire tutorial and references there you would have considerable knowledge. For ex. Transitioning to jets is a great way to get familiar with flying one of the big boys. No get you butt back in school boyo! 😂

i found the sections on IFR flying and the jet checkrides very useful

if you can, try to use fsx as realisticaly as you can, you could look on some websites for GA and try replicate flightplans, procedures ect..

Great idea. I am working on a more realistic but generic civillian twin cockpit with more hands on, if not working, items such as manual trim wheel, nicer freee standing console for the quadrant, switches. lighting, etc. It all adds to more a more realistic environments and heck ...the Fun! I have an intercomm and two aviation headsets through which the sound is added as an external speaker. You can also talk between crew ovre the intercom. I've found each small thing like adding a real aircraft seat from a 737 has made a huge difference, and I'm seriously thinking about building a full cockpit, at least the Captains side, Now where can I get my hands on a scrap Grumman Goose cockpit.... Twisted Evil

try an "aircraft graveyard" or eBay

I think I'm just going to build a generic twin cockpit with some of the old aircraft stuff I've aquired. That way it will look kinda neutral and fit a variety of types. A real seat has made a big difference, and I'm going to work on a console for the intercom and throttle quadrant. Free standing for now, but I'd like to incorporate it into a floor and glareshield over the winter.
