Hi everyone,
I've been looking at computers to upgrade to so that I can run FS9 a little bit better. I was wondering if you could share your input on this computer:
Thanks,
Jeff
For FS9 it will be perfect, not for FSX, the video card isn't powerful enough.

Is there a chance that FS9 will not work with Vista 64 bit?
It should, FSX does without a problem.

I wouldn't risk buying this computer. You think you're saving money because it's on special but you end up throwing your money away.
You'll have compatibility issues sooner rather than later with the 64 bit OS and this machine doesn't even have a dedicated graphics card.
Spend another hundred or two hundred bucks and you'll have a rig that'll run fs9 just fine.
Hi jeffb57, i would'nt go for this one either, but then again it depends on your budget and you really do need a good graphics card! I would look around as i'm sure you have something like this in the US http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ , here you can pick your own components and upgrade or downgrade to your hearts content. I've been messing about here for a while now and i'm still undecided as i can get a fantastic PC for about £500/$1000 . 😀
Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! I don't really want to run FS9 at 60 FPS, I'm happy with 25-30, as long as there is no stuttering. From everything that I've read about this computer, I feel that it is probably the best choice for what I want out of FS9, and my budget.
Acer i wouldnt......you could allwyas go to dell.com they have good deals.....spend more now rather then spending more later to upgrade trust me on that one
Jeff,
Before you purchase the Ace, look around you for one of the local computer shops that has survived. I have one here that I use exclusively! The guys and gals there, 3 years ago, talked me into building my rig. At first I was nervous, but quickly found out it was a matter of plugging things together, getting the best stuff I could afford and loading the software. With their help I have gotten good at things that help me better use and enjoy MSFS.
Good luck, and remember: The only dumb question is a question never asked!
Bill
My system specs are:
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3193MHz
Graphics Card: Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Family 128mb.
Memory: 1024MB
Free Disk Space: 48.36GB
Optical Drive: DVD
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP
I run fs2004 will an average of 30 frame rates with medium settings. What do I have to get or upgrade to get fs2004 to run with all of the settings maxed and get good frame rates around 30? I want it to run smoothly with 100% ai traffic or online play. You know the worst case senari that usually slows down fs2004 but I still want it to run the best. What do I need?

Your Graphics Card appears not to be a Graphics Card at all but an integrated chip. Not good. I might be wrong but at 128mb you're way below par anyway. To run fs9 at an acceptable level you need a dedicated GFX card with at least 256mb - 512 is better.
Your Pentium 4 might still be sufficient for average fs9 play but if you want everything maxed out, I'm not so sure. This also applies to the amount of RAM, you can get by with what you have but if you're gonna max out, you'll have to make sure that you disable all unnecessary apps/programs running in the background before you start up the sim.
To sum up, for what you want to achieve you'll have to get a new computer. It'll be cheaper than upgrading what you have now.
What I see any significant increase in performance if I added another gig of ram? That's about all I could do rite now financially.
Well these are my specs:
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz CPU overclocked to 3.50
Memory: 4GB RAM
Graphics Devices: 2 x Nvidea 8800GT at 512MB each
Thats pretty basic specs but with that im getting 30fps at FlyTampa Kai Tak with everything maxed out and Flight Environment Pro and skAI Traffic at 100% 😉

Hence, i get 25 with FlyTampa Kai Tak and Adobe Ai
If only FS could utilise Dual Core and 2 x Graphics cards, my fps would increase sooo much 🙄
