Switching over from X Plane - some questions.

Ren Guest

Hi,

Merry Christmas!

I have a new graphics card (Radeon 9600XT 256MB) , rudder pedals (CH Products Pro Pedals) , a memory upgrade (now at 1 GB) and a copy of FS2004 in hopes to make my rig a little more realistic than my X Plane setup with just joystick.

But trying to make the conversion, I have a few questions.

1) Why do the planes look bad? Are the built-in planes just really bad looking, and I need to download new ones off the internet? Because my 4 year old XPlane with integrated graphics looked better than these planes...?

2) How do I request vectors for an airport, or get a GPS approach? I used to be able to plot in an airport on GPS and it would give me heading, nautical miles, and minutes. How do I do this on FS? Or...do I need to file a flight plan? And if I do, how do I load that into whatever "flight tracker" there is?

3) Are there keyboard shortcuts for engaging autopilot functions, like VS, IAS, ALT, HDG, etc?

Thank you so much.
