Why so slow?

I am running FSX on a windows 8 pc with 8gb ram and an i5 processor at 3ghz with an Intel HD graphics card. It's choppy with lots of pop in scenery, even on medium high settings with an unlimited target framerate. Why is this? Surely a PC with those specs should be able to run it smoothly at near enough maxed out settings?

That looks like a built in (integrated) video card to me, thats your bottleneck.
If it's a laptop your stuck if it's a desktop check and see if they have a slot on the motherboard for a new card and then you can disable the integrated card.

You could try locking the FPS at 20 and see if that helps.
