I want to update my computer, to get better frame rates. I have a Nvidia GeForce 4000 128MB video card and 512MB of RAM. Should I get a new video card or more memory?
Chris,
What about the rest of your specs?
CPU speed?
doubling the memory to 1024 would really help, but in your case, a better video card would make the most difference.
Here's my computer information.
Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 1
eMachines
W1640
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
1.39 Ghz
512MB of RAM
My first move would be a better video card. Then, if you can afford it, I would go for another 512 mb stick of memory too.
I think you would get more noticeable improvement with the video card.
Others may have differing suggestions, but that is the way I would go.
All depends on how much you want to spend really.
Michael_H is 100% right, ram and the card.
