clouds only emerge around the plane, the horizon is always clear......
is it the way it is? i tried to increase "draw distance" value a little higher, but the performance dropped significantly, i think they could use 2d bitmap clouds in the distance with little effect on the performance...
There is a cloud draw distance setting - try the 3D cloud slider too.
What spec PC do you have?
i did that, then the FPS got choppy.
My PC specs: 3.0 P4, 1.5 GB SDDR, radeon 9800 pro video, intel MB.
i pretty much have to use ultra high setting which only sets draw distance for 40 miles as i remember, anything higher would make the frame rate stutter.
but at 40000 feet high, 40 mile radius is only a small area...
Thats a reasonably high spec PC and I wouldn't expect it to happen. I had a 9800Pro but upgraded to PCI-Express and it was super smooth, perhaps that is a little bit of a bottle neck?
It IS a pain when you have this problem because you have to sacrifice detail for frame rates. Try turning the terrain detail to 20% (I got that tip from MegaScenery) and turn the auto-gen stuff down.
FS Sky World adds some clouds on the horizon.
JVD, how do I find this FS Sky addon?
does it slow down your machine?
nottobe Fs Sky world is free! it can be found at avsim and it does not slow down the PC
