Hi, I'm a Newbie around here so please bear with me.
I have just down loaded the Swordfish, now being an ex RN Air Mechanic, I just had to. It seemed to unzip ok but I am being told that it cannot be opened without knowing the program that wrote it.
I am running XP Pro with all the security etc. Does anybody have any bright ideas?
Steve.

Please give us a link to the download so we can try it and see what you mean.

I just downloaded it and unzipped it with WinZip the "trial" version which lasts forever.
Throw away two of the folders and just keep the aircraft folder.
Follow these steps and it will show up in your aircraft menu.
I may be listed under another name, not necessarily Swordfish.
I don't have 2002 so I could go that far.

My Computer is an icon on your desktop, double click on it.

Inside your main drive icon is "C".

Double click on that.

Look for a folder "Program Files".

Double click on that.

Look for a folder marked "Microsoft Games".

Double click on that.

Now you have a folder Flight Simulator.

Double click on that.

Laid out are all the simulator folders.

Put the Swordfish folder into the main aircraft folder.

Good luck and let us know how it works!

I did all that no problem, MS is still not recognising the MDL file and is looking for the program it was written in.

I think it might be a Swordfish problem. I downloaded the Buccaneer and the C150 and had no trouble at all.

Your probably right. They had a few minor fix's for it. I couldn't find another for 2002, just CFS.
This is the site where it was built, contact them and see if they can help you. Most designers are very polite.

I'll check www.flightsim.com later and see if they have a different one.

Check with them and see if they still have it.
Make sure it'll be for 2002, not CFS.
Meanwhile they have some very cool free 2002 downloads.

Flightsim.com only had the same as you now have.

Back to the Swordfish. I tried this and it worked.
When unzipping you get the option to download to a selected folder, click on the selection, then follow down C: double click programs, Microsoft games,SF2002 and unzip to the root folder.

Thumbs Up! I'm glad you were finally able to get it installed, now you feel at home. Enjoy!
