Well guys, I've decided to un-install Flight Sim 04' from my hd to get some space back. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad I'm saving for a 450GB drive, then i'll throw FS9 or 10 on again.

This does NOT mean i'mma gonna stop coming by here. Actually, I think i'm on flyaway more than i'm in FS9... 😎

Crying or Very sad That's a bit sad, mate, but at least I know you have gobs of knowledge to share, so please don't slack off of doing that. If you get bored with us, start up a topic about Heino or something. Seriously, you're one of the leading contributors here, so I hope you upgrade soon. Meanwhile, I'll try to think up some "Stump FEM" questions. Evil or Very Mad

I've gotten lucky with a Heino post in the Others forum. So far, I've found out that The Man was on TV, which means he's healthy, which means I may still have time to go meet him.

Someone once asked me if i'd rather take a bullet for Heino, or Rammstein. I had no idea how to respond, so i kicked him in the shin for asking such a stressful question. Not hard, mind you, but a shin kick is a shin kick

Why would you save for a 450GB harddrive? What do you have right now?

Keep the one you have now as the master and get a 250gig for the slave, that way you'll still have the sim and more space.

It certainly is a tough decision to come to. I'm staring at only 1.5-2 gigs of memory left on my laptop and considering it myself! However, I might enjoy my other games, but I'm definitly devoted enough to flight simulator to make this an FS9 only computer!

Are you going to save you flight simulator files? Trust me from experience, you don't want to have to get all those downloads back. Put it on CDs if nothing else. 😉

Sorry to be disagreable, but i think you are a deserter.

You have more knowledge than me on fs9, and yet you are prepared to give it all up!

Have the men with the white coats come to take you away yet, coz you seriously need your head testing. Crying or Very sad

...... I agree with Micah. For someone that loves simming as much as you it seems a bizarre fatalistic thing to do.

The answer is, get all the other rubbish and daft games like Doom off your PC and dedicate it to the mighty FS2004 !

Maybe you just need a short break from it and your hunger for this wonderful virtual world will return !

how small is your harddrive any way?

I have got loads of downloaded planes, add-ons etc etc, and games like gta san andreas, etc but i still have plenty of space!

Try and find an external h/drive on ebay or something!

Come on man, do the right thing! Ill

I believe I already said, i'll STILL BE ON HERE!

I don't need to fly every day to keep the knowlege, because lately, all FS9 has done is sit there. By lately, I mean since christmas.

Why would you save for a 450GB harddrive?

Because they have em pretty cheap at newegg, and I dont want to have to upgrade again and again, it's bad enough that the 2 are so close to eachother.

Those are on the second hard drive, so i'm not worried about them, but the second HD is crap, it lags Diablo 2, and for those of you that know Diablo 2, laggage in that game is crap

Im an FS fanatic too and i just only want to answer to my friend who reffers to doom as a ''daft'' that maybe there are some reasons about it...maybe he is afraid of the dark... or splutter ,maybe he isnt fast enough to play such a game, maybe he has cardiovascular problems and a lot of other reasons which i totally repspect...But ,although i think that FS fanatics are decent and open mind guys and never put on the spot other games (and especially doom)which have a lot of funs and history.

I think you can compress XP only if you used NFTS not Fat32. Check on that.

Thats right, file system level compression (on-the-fly) only works on NTFS. Other types of compression such as ZIP, RAR... etc can be used on FAT32, but you would have to extract all the files before running FS.

Question: Why are we all pushing so hard for F_E_M to keep FS9 on his rig? I'm just happy he's staying with us, and the fact that he hasn't flown in months didn't seem to disturb anyone, lol. Me, I'm an "all or nothing" kind of guy myself. If I were in F_E_M's situation I would also just wait for a bigger HDD because I wouldn't be satisfied to use a minimal installation (less stuff on the HDD), default planes and scenery, plus no add-ons.

We're all tossing ideas at F_E_M about how he could reduce space and keep FS9 installed (hmm, speaking of the default planes you could remove all but three I believe), but aren't we forgetting that he's a really intelligent lad and could work all this out himself if he wanted?

F_E_M, don't listen to us, man. (BTW, how about clearing your cache and reducing the size [my Firefox defaulted to 48MB but my IE defaulted to a way higher amount] of your cache since you have that sizzling-fast connection now?)

I hope you don't get annoyed with us, buddy. We're a bit like that intrusive paperclip in Microsoft Word, but we mean well!

Hello Greekman 72,

(I'm assuming that you're still reading, and not one of those people that makes a strong statement then does not have the conviction to stay around).

I think you have taken my point too sensitively... You must be as protective about "Doom" as we tend to be about FS2004 around here... which is fine by me.

I only meant that if FEM is having hard drive space problems that the world of FS2004 is far more important than "games", like Doom.

Fs2004 is more of a platform that just a game in itself, so losing FS2004 means losing a lot !

I am not afraid of the dark, or any of the other childish things that you suggested, I just like simulators rather than games.... and around here we are friends and comfortable enough to be open and honest with our views on things.

Anyway, sorry for any offence to "Doom" , enjoy it, along with all your other games and toys.

Have fun.

GPS.

(Never have reacted well to sarcasm, it tends to make me resort to it).

I've been wondering that too, it's not like i'm going to do it because you all say to anyway.

Of course not, knowlege is knowlege, it doesnt' get rusty

I don't think he's being sarcastic. Being afraid of the dark and playing Doom 3 is an extremely bad combination that can lead to far off places.

He may also have a point about not being fast enough, I dont think that by "fast" he means smarts, but D3 especially does take fast reactions with the mouse, and whatnot, and to my knowlege, in FS9, I haven't needed to move any part of me very fast at all.

cardiovascular problems are an issue, because Doom 3, if that's what he's referring to mainly, is very frightening, and if you do have heart problems, it's not good to play it. I believe it did say somewhere that people with heart problems should take care when playing it. I may be wrong though.

And to add one more thing, seeing is how I havent used FS9 since Christmas, I'd rather uninstall it than Doom 3 or any of the other great games I have on here

FEM I thought you were an intelligent young man but if you think that that guy was being serious about those "conditions" then mmmm ...... he was clearly taking the **** in a way of saying "this guy (me) is not up to playing this mighty Doom game" ..... I don't take sarcastic crap like that well as you should know by now, as I know you certainly don't take insulting crap from people.

I can't believe that people can get so offended about a game (I mean it can be argued that FS is or is not a game.... but theres no arguing that Doom is nothing other than a game)...

I respect people on this forum - I place well spirited posts, I do not intentionally put anyone else down even if I disagree with them.... and I do not expect someone to take the **** out of me, suggesting I'm too much of a wimp to play a game.

Maybe you need to read Greekman's posting again .... I don't think my saying "daft games like Doom" deserved such a patronizing response.

So FEM I don't know if you are in fact taking the **** by suggesting that I may seriously be :-

- too scared of the dark to play a computer game
- have too slow reactions to play a computer game
- be too unfit in cardiovascular heath to play a computer game

..... hopefully not. But your posting seems strange to suggest he was being serious that those may be the reasons I think Doom is a silly game.

It's simple; I don't enjoy computer games, fantasy or otherwise.... When you're 32 you may not enjoy Doom either !!!!

I apologise for BORING all of the forums other readers with where this topic has gone .... I empathise as this is boring the life out of me now.

Right, I must go now as it's getting dark and I'm starting to shake... I'll have to be careful getting up the stairs to bed as I'm not very fast you see..... and what with my circulation... Idea

hey GP if its any consilation i think it was a sarcastic post. im only 15 and i think doom is rubbish. it wasnt nice to say that your too slow to play it

chill though, not worth gettin wound up as the guy that said it is probably younger than me

I like Micah's take on this. A true flyer would get rid of all that porn first, not FS. While you save for a super-humongous drive that your BIOS won't even recognize, get a super cheap 40 or 80 gigger to hold you over, Man ! I believe you have sniffed very bad fumes and will come to your senses before long. rob

Well said GPS, and you certainly do not have to apologise in my view for calling Doom a daft game..
Compared to the Flight Simulator, it is just a standard, monotonous kid's game. (all due respect to FEM, but really)

I don't see any reason for a flame war unless unbeknownst to me the members here at Flyaway all chipped in and purchased F_E_M's hard drive and gave it to him with the stipulation that he only fill it with FS9-related stuff, but hey, that's just my opinion, and "Opinions are like assholes -- everyone's got one, but nobody wants to look at the other guy's."

It's time to lay this bullshit to rest right now

First-

GPS-Kid How the hell should I know why you don't play doom? I didn't ask you if you're afraid of the dark. Being afraid of the dark is a phobia anyway, some may have it. You may have a bad heart, how the hell should I know that either, I'm not your damn doctor. You immediately assume that if a person refutes any point you make, they do it in a saracstic manner. Whoever Geekman is, he was right in his statements. But yet, you're the saintly member who rapes the person who posts a snappy comment about a tiny incident.

I would rather uninstall FS9 than-
1. Be shot
2. Delete Rammstein/Heino/Poison/The Crue from my hard drive
3. Uninstall games that I actually USE
4. Delete my porn
5. dump my girlfriend

Also, I would like to know who here wants me to install FS9 back so bad that they'd come out here to do it for me? Or force me to? I have over 40 gigs of free space left, but I'm not putting it back on there. Here's why-

I DONT USE IT Jesus, when has it become such a sin to uninstall a simulator from your computer?

I'm also not going to get another crappy 80G hard drive, because If i'm going to upgrade something, i'm going to wait to get the best/fastest/most. That's why I have the X800PE, and 2G of ram. (I bet someone will come and say "BUT FEM, you can have more ram now LOL" No shit, but I couldnt when I got the PC.)

If I may ask, since when has it mattered to ANY of you so much that I un-installed FS9? It's not like my grandmother died or something. God isn't going to come and castrate me because I un-installed it. So don't worry about it. If you want something to really bitch about, go read the news for a while.

SoCalRick put it very well, why the hell are you pushing me so hard to put fS9 back? Heaven forbid I uninstall it, you know, it's in the Bible nowadays, it's the 11th commandment, "Ye shall not uninstall Flight Simulator from ye computer, lest Satan cometh and taketh thee to the abyss"

So, if you want to get me to put FS9 back on my PC, why don't you get off your asses and do something about it? I do want that 450 G hard drive, so how abouts you all pitch in and get me one? Then I'll put FS9 on there.

For the love of God, I started the post to tell you a plan that I had about my PC, not to have you all bust ovaries/balls trying to get me to install a game on my computer. I don't have to come back here you know, it's no loss to me at all. I've never downloaded a plane from this site either. Nearly all of my 1500+ posts have been information given to other flight sim users. Most all of my questions I have posted are about information that I am unable to acquire due to my placement in the world. I haven't learned anything from this site, other than some of the members here would probably murder someone for uninstalling a game from their computer.

My friend F_E_M.

Do anything u LIKE.The FS is urs,the PC is urs,the choices are urs and the way everyone wants to act about everything its something that doesnt control from ANYONE...The only rule about it is not to bother anyone...Uninstall a game or FS or everything else from ur pc is ur decision and if someone takes a decision about doing something ,for the name of god is HIS decision.U are not saing that u r going to take a B-52 and bombing ur state....Jesus!!!

My personal opinion is that we have to feel free about anything we do in our lives which anyway is full of stress and pushed for a thousand of reasons.

We dont have to put ourselves in the traggic position to be pushed for the simplest things, all of us .I think ,we all have a lot of other problems to solve and we are using our pc games, sims or ....toys as my good friend GPS sais as a way to escape from the reality and enjoy something that helping us to relax or anything else.I dont want to believe that FS guys are these kind of maniacs which are stack all day in front of their monitors and simming and pause it for a brake of porn....It cant be happens cause simming needs clear minds and skilly persons and since i find this site and reading forums i didnt find these kind of guys.I find decent and clever persons with a great sence of humor, experts in simming(lots lots better than me) and great personalitys. And i mean it.Thats y im visiting everyday the forums and read with lot of intresting what ur writing.U r all great.
As about my friend Gps i have to notice that i like my games and i will always play with them.If u thing my friend that im a child i feel very happy for this cause this my purpose...never stop being a child....its so cool...Give a try about it and i thing that u may enjoy it too....realese urself from ur age and feel like u wish too...it doesnt matter if ur 40 and wanna play pacman or anything else ...and i dont feel guilty when my 5 yrs old nephew come beside me when im simming and asks my to ''drive'' the plane....i give it to him and i leave him to explore it ...to crash....to burn ...to do anything he likes.....The happy i takes when i look his exciting eyes when he is playing(cause he is playing, not simming)is the best reward for me....

Sorry for my poor english and my huge post.
