Hi Guys,
A very general question.
I want to know what you would say is the one essential piece of payware add-on for fs9, in your opinion?
I have FS european terrain, my traffic, flight deck companion, aircraft carrier opps, concorde, and thats about it.
Tell me your views people of the fs9 world!!
Cheers
Micah 😉
(if at first you dont succeed, then try it the way your wife told you!)
I don't really have an addon that I couldn't do without but I suppose for some people it might be a scenery addon or Active Camera. 😀
I could do without all add ons apart from Active Camera. I just love the way it shakes and moves during takeoff, landing and turning. Gives FS2004 that realistic feel that was missing.
where do i get active camera then? Can you tell me some more of its features, and the price too?
Plus, does anyone beg to differ with BashDaBish???
Here you can get a free active camera, it's called "F1View Utility"

If you like flying heavy aircraft you might want to check out the Level-D 767:

Ultimate traffic was the first add-on that I bought and the sim took on a new life with it.

A while later I bought USA Roads, at first I didn't care for it but now I wouldn't do without that extra added scenery that makes the sim look so realistic.
I guess that happened when I maxed out my scenery slider, it really showed up then.

You've got some great add-ons in that list Micah - I don't think theres any essential that is missing.
My essentials are:-
- Flight Deck Companion (which you have).
- A Traffic programme (I use Just Flight Traffic 2004).
- A camera tool (I use the free F1 View mentioned above).
- Payware quality Scenery for the areas I fly a lot.
- A Terrain imrovement add-on (I use Just Flight FS Terrain).
- ... and of course a whole hangar of fantastic add-ons (Level D 767 is best).
I would also say that I couldn't fly without Yoke now either (although keeping a Joystick is vital too for the Airbus and combat jet flying)... and finally, I would say that a second monitor (for positioning instruments permanently) and a Sound System with OOMPH and a Woofer makes a huge difference.
Quote from my loving partner: "Oh my god - where has all our money gone !!"
😉
I certainly would love to get a second monitor. How would i go about setting it up though, so that i have instruments on one and flight on t'other? 😕
Cheers

Dual monitors.
You will take a FPS hit because the video card is doing more work. It's best with a CRT and a LCD.
So far all I have now is Ultimate Traffic, some addon scenery, and Active camera. Is it just me or AC is not even that brilliant after all? Anyway does anyone know how to add a fixed view point in an airport that concentrates and follow on the aircraft that is landing?
yeah thats a good point.
i just downloaded the Active camera, and i have to say that im not overly impressed unless im missing something?? 😕
I would say Active Sky. I couldn't go without it.
Other than that, for aircraft, the PMDG or LevelD 767
The GPS Kid has it right.
A yoke
Dual monitor
LDS-767 or Legendary 727.
Doesn't anything increasing traffic significantly slow the PC down? I'm sure that even with the FS2004 default AI turned up my PC slows immensely (3.5Ghz processor).

Yes it has to, your adding more textures and objects for the computer to render and add to a scene. Play with your traffic slider and you'll see the difference in FPS.
Well i have to have a great plane to fly. I love to fly the PMDG B1900D. I have that on my new computer and the plane is excellent. But the PMDG 737(Particulary the 800/900) are great. Dont worry about killing the FPS. they dont. on my old cpu(listed below) it run the 737. but the funny thing is my computer meets the requirements except for the processor. but i still get 10-12 FPS in not big areas. About 5-8 in big cities. so PMDG has really good addons.
