guys, im giving up, please help me

crosscheck9 Guest

Hello all,
In a topic I started recently titled water effects, I sought help in integrating new water effects into the simulator. The problem was that I couldn't move the water effects slider to high, and have it stay there. Radarman gave me a link to the Microsoft support center, but I could not follow the instructions to resolve the issue, because one or more of the progrmas required, (and thought to already be in the computer) were hidden, and I couldn't find them, even after performing a search. PLEASE HELP ME!!

You dont need to download windowblinds if you dont have it in the first place. But even then, it might help though 🙂

It's windowblinds that makes that problem happen. So there must me some other reason why this error is occuring. 😕 ❓ ❓

well, i downloaded window blinds before reading this post, but I kinda had a little trouble. I followed the first solution given at the link given by radarman, but i need some help with it. It says to select the FS9 folder in the Windowblinds, but I cant do that...I have to select an individual file in order to apply the instructions to it, if you know what i mean...because i kind of got confused there, I went to the second solution, which ended up with no results. the problem still occured...i unloaded windowblinds but no luck...please help me, these water textures are sickening...

sounds like a rediculously simple suggestion, but have you tried reinstalling flight sim?

It may be a bug from within the program that is causing it? 😞

Always worth a try!

Windowblinds is the cause not the cure. If you don't have it on your computer don't download it.
There is another reason for the problem, if you installed new water effects in your main texture folder and made a backup of that folder now is the time to put the backup folder back in the main and remove the altered one.

As he said, If you want to reinstall the sim do it, that'll clear up the problem but make sure that all is uninstalled before reinstalling.

If you have Water effects: High and then you set Terrain detail: Land & water note that your slider for water effects will automatically reduce to low. To correct it, just set your water effects slider to high and let the program reduce the terrain detail slider to Terrain detail: Land only. One will toggle the other, which is the way it is supposed to be.

i uninstalled and reinstalled the sim, and I unloaded Windowblinds, but still, no luck...plz, i fly a lot of overwater flights and the default water textures are the worst i've ever seen

im sorry to reply to my own post, but i noticed the topic kept moving farther and farther down to the bottom, and I was afraid some people might not see it. The problem is really starting to tick me off. Mad y did microsoft stick with problems that shouldn't be there///anyways, i look forward to hearing from you soon.

Why did Microsoft "stick" with what problems?

sorry, i meant "stick us with problems" I was looking in the Microsoft website, and I found out that there is an update for FS9 there...27MB's, do you think it could have something that would resolve my problem? here is the link...

The patch adds some bridges as well as a memory leak mod as I remember, but I don't see why it would make a difference in your case. I don't have my version patched and I'm very happy with it. Maybe I'm not understanding your problem correctly. You're saying that even with "Terrain detail: Land only" set (middle position on slider) that the water effects slider won't stay on high?

SoCalRickHas hit the nail on the head
If you push the Water effects to high the Terrain automaticaly drops to medium
And the other way around, push terrain to high and the water drops to medium
Its the way the program is

The fs9 update is for ground scenery and will not change the way the sliders work

crosscheck9 Guest

exactly....even with terrain detail on land only, the water effects keeps reverting to low. I select High, and select ok, and then it changes itself back to low...this i becoming a stressfull problem..because I honestly hate the default water textures

😕 Maybe your gfx card cannot handle the textures Dont Know

Ive had a look about and found this at Avsim ➡

"classic_water_texture"
Just search 2004 for water texture

Ive tested them on my PC and they work(not as good as the one I going to reinstall)but these are basic textures
Try them and see what you think and if they solve your slider problem
