According to about 3 people that are fanatical about critisizing anyone who posts off-topic sujects, we do.

I would like to see an Off-Topic forum, so I voted yes.

My personal opinion and proposal is to post anyhting else except simming.
Maybe this helps ''other'' forum to get clearer and to refers only to some general issues about simming.

An off-topic forum would be a good thing. People (including me) have been using the Other forum as an Off-Topic forum.

I'm not trying to kill the idea but it wants some very tight policies stated upfront about what is and is not acceptable and how personal attacks will be dealt with. It's almost guaranteed that you'll attract people not in the least interested in FS that come in just to troll for a response to their antagonistic comments. A non-guest forum might be a good idea to avoid that problem..

I've seen some nice sites ruined by the way some 'discussions' get into a flame war. Even to the point of proposed action in the courts almost resulting in a sim-site being totally closed down.

The mods also need to restrain from closing off-topic threads they don't personally agree with. That can upset people more than the thread subject does.

Other than that, it can be interesting to discuss other non-fling subjects with fellow simmers.

Of course you are not killing the idea.Every opinion and proposal is acceptable.I m not sure if we must close this forum to guests,i know that it is dangerous for extreme posts but most of guests in this site are decent and has post a lot of interesting advices and topics(like yours here).I think that we have to follow some general rules about religion,politics,porn etc like the rest of forums.I m sure that we all going to see some extreme or funny posts but we will also know that we are not going to meet these posts in ''others'' forum or in some more deticaded to FS forums.

I have to tell that i have the same problem about the moderating and the issues that will be post there.Of course it is very easy to get ''on fire''.But i think also that its depending on us to keep it clear and decent.

Anyway lets share our opinions here and do our proposals about it and at the end i think that Flyaway has the final decision.

The problem with an OT forum is that it invites a higher server load for discussions that have nothing to do with FS. Now, if that doesn't pose a real problem, technically, I'd have no objection.

I guess I'm sitting on the fence. 🙄

The server problem is indeed a serious point.
Although i think that if the results of this poll is positive to be greated such a forum some other forums ,and especially ''OTHER'' ,will...unload...for a lot of posts.So maybe the load of server isnt to big.Something ,lets say,like sharing.

Well I do think it would be good to have an off-topic forum but not because I don't like Off-Topic stuff, as I would definately pop in there now and again to see what people were chatting about ...

I'm just a bit of an organisational freak (probably because I'm a Project Manager) so would like things to be in a good order !

Now, I just caught up on that awful concorde post, and I don't mean to be disrespectful to the Moderators, but why weren't some of the posts taken off ?

Some idiot posting under the name "FEM is Gay" should not be allowed an audience on this site, and I do feel that those posts shouldn't still be there now.

Ok, so there are disagreements on any forum but using Guest names like the above should not be tolerated at ant level .... (I'm not being "Anti-Gay" by the way, just that's it's obvious that in this context it was meant as an insult to FEM).

So come on, let's clean up and not let the idiots get the pleasure of keeping posts like that on this forum !

I "cleaned" that thread up as the "insulting guest" posted. I can do it in that forum not in the one that has the Concorde.

Ok, I'm going to stick my neck out and say something I wanted to say months ago (I know that at least 5 other long term, well reputed members agree with me as I have PM and emailed with them;

It appears (and it's only an observation) that "Flyaway" has very little time for this site. His presence from a moderation point of view is zero, and also I have noticed that the number of membership and account issues that are flagged on the site has increased a LOT in the last 3 months.

Nobody (member or guest) that comes here would ever criticise the great work that Radar Man and TTT do on this site but it seems to me they are bagging an ever increasingly worse deal, as Flyaway himself (who I assume - could be wrong) is closer connected to the management of the site seems to take on little responsibility for things around here now, whereas TTT and Radar Man are as commited as ever.

Take my ID - I have been coming here for a long time and had XXX's of postings yet after a problem with my ID (caused by entering an incorrect new email address) my requests to reactivate my account have been ignored, and ignored and ignored.

Somebody clearly "owns" this site, and owns the revenue that it generates. Whether or not that person is Flyaway I have no idea but it would be good to see some responsible leadership on this site, someone listening to the customers, to the people who make it what it is.

I'm sorry but the site has gone down hill considerably, and what I am saying (before any members get offended) is that I think that this is mainly due to the Management of the site.

Feedback is rarely nice to receive, and also quite awkward to give but there you go.

Flyaway - It's over to you to prove that each and all of my comments are incorrect or unfair

I agree with GPS-kid, and I've said the exact thing (Only including FEM lingo) in the General section of the flyaway web site forum.

At 20th of July i was post a pm to Flyaway about this topic and its poll in order to make him notice it and try to give us an answer about our thought.Since then i got no responce.I didnt see neither a post here that could tell us about his opinon.I m very sorry for this.
I think that this is a matter of respect to all these members that spend their time and had the kindness to vote and share their thoughts here.We all, i think, wait for some negative or positive responce about the idea of creating this new forum.
Of course maybe im wrong,and if i am i apologise but from all this facts i find my self closer to what GPS-kid and FEM write before me.

This is not a matter only about this new forum...maybe the idea to create it which starts from my post was ridiculus....The point is that this is a matter of RESPECT.

No offence to Flyaway but i think that a litle more presence of him in Forums will be appreciated from anyone.

I dont think that Flyaway want to create this forum.Maybe he knows better.I will respect his behave and i want to believe that he must has some reasons to do this.He is the administrator.

That's a very kind gesture, but not necessary. You have done your best to get a simple "yes" or "no" answer, and you have conducted yourself in a very humble and respectful way, Greekman. It's not you that owes the members an apology.

The idea has merit, and I'm all for it, for whatever that's worth.

And just to make my posture clear, I think that Radarman and TTT do an incredible service here and I'd leave in an instant if we didn't have them.
