Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Merrill (PAMR) to DeadHorse (PASC), in the King Air 350, using real world weather, flight starts at 4:00 PM Local Time (on FS).

We start in a couple hours.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

OK. I'm 8 miles from VOR TKA leveled off at FL220.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I just passed throu FL185, and I'm 12 miles from TKA.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

What's your ground speed?

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

GS is 260, and I'm 134 NM from ENN

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Mine is 258kts. Isn't it supposed to go 300? That's what it says on the specifications sheet. Confused

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

What is your GS and distance from ENN?

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

My GS is 263 now. I'm 103 nautical miles from VOR ENN. Hey, is that Mt/ Mckinely off to the left?

I think it is.

Do you know what the ceilling of the king air is?

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Service ceiling with 2 eingines=35,000ft. with 15,000 lbs.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I'm at FL240 and I'm getting 259 kts. What about you?

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

259 down here too. I'd probally just stay up there if you are there already.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I'm now doing 257 kts, and I'm 64 NM from ENN.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

48 miles from ENN. 257 knots here too.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

To win, you have to be at a ramp with everything off.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

ok. The reason that we are going so slow is because we have a 33 knot left quartering head wind.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I am at FL280 and I am doing 273 kts, I am 7 miles from ENN

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Do you know what the nearest ATIS frequency is? Don't stop to look at the map, I just thought you might know.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

Do you have your Anti-Ice on?

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

No. Pitot heat I do though. The wind just turned directions, Wind 201 / 31 mag. I'm doing 303 knots now. Very Happy

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

The wind has become variable at 30 knots. Now I've got a headwind and doing 265 knots again. What is it like up there?

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

To get wind press Shift+Z I am 271kts, 153 NM from CQR

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

How far are you from CQR? I'm 144 NM from CQR. No anti-ice, but pitot heat is on.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

100 miles. GS=251

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I know why you are winning. I had trouble starting my engines at the PAMR. I got the Left one started ok, but then the right wouldn't start, so I went through the checklists again and got it to start the 2nd time.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

How much fuel do you have left? I'm at 70%.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

With the turboprops I try to only taxi on one engine. BTW, are you getting any turbulence? At www.aviationweather.gov it said there was some turbulence around this area. I'm 72 miles from CQR GS=306 knots. (the wind turned around again)

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

Wow, your going fast. I'm comming down there, I'll take my chances. No turbulence up here. Very smooth. I'm doing 274 kts, and I'm 87 from cqr.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

I wouldn't do that, it's only because the wind keeps turning.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

Yea, I just noticed that, I lost about 500 feet. I'm going 330. 71 miles from cqr.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

43 miles when you said 71. I'm back down to 254 knots now. What's it like up there?

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

The wind is 014 and turning, velocity is 44 kts. What's your fuel at? I have 64%. 39 NM from CQR. GS: 270

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I have about 190 NM to DeadHorse.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

I just crossed over CQR. My ground speed =254 knots. My fuel is 21%. I didn't want to take any extra weight, just enough to get me to deadhorse, plus 30 minutes.

Darn it! I forgot to calculate the fuel consumption. Is there a fuel dump valve on this plane?

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Not that I know of. I'm 145 miles from PASC. 257 knots.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

Just kidding. That would be cheating. I'm 155 from SCC.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

I don't think that that would be cheating. As long as there is a fuel dump valve.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Surprised We should have flown at a later time. It's not dark. I'm 92 miles from Deadhorse. GS=265

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I am 100 miles from SCC. GS=279

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

89 miles from PASC. GS=262

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I just started my desent. 92 miles from scc

SamIntel wrote:

Did ATC give you that descent? I just got descent clearance when I was 79 miles from Deadhorse.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

Yea, they did. But I was higher than you. I'll talk to you on the ground.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

I forgot about that. Good luck. See you then.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

Once you get to the ramp and shut down post a reply that says done.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

DONE.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Done.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

How did you do it so fast? (in other words, what did I do wrong Laughing )

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

What I should have done was cancelled my IFR as soon as I was out of the clouds. That way I could have gone staight for the airport and entered the traffic pattern from there. Did you get any screenshots? All I got was 2.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

1. I was cruising at a higher alltitude so I was slowly catching up with you. 2. Because I was at a higher altitude I got to desend before you did. 3. on desent I was getting as much speed out of the aircraft as posible, but not over sterssing it. Exept below 10,00, then I slowed down.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I got 1.

Pro Member Chief Captain
Matthew Shope (mypilot) Chief Captain

Congraduations. Cheers!

Let's go to PMs again.

Pro Member Captain
Sam (SamIntel) Captain

I'm going to get off FS and I'll PM you when I get off.
