How do I install downloaded add-ons in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024?

MSFS 2024 add-on installs (quick checklist)

Most downloaded add-ons install the same way as 2020 did.
The key is putting the add-on folder in the right place, and not nesting it.

1) Confirm what type of add-on you downloaded

• If it came from the in-sim Marketplace, install it via the sim.
• If it’s a ZIP/RAR download from a developer, it’s usually a “Community” add-on.
• If it’s an EXE/MSI installer, run it and point it to your MSFS 2024 packages path.

2) Installing a ZIP “Community” add-on (manual install)

1. Unzip the download. Do not leave it zipped.
2. You should end up with one add-on folder per product.
3. Check the folder level. The folder you copy must contain files like manifest.json.
4. Copy that add-on folder into your MSFS 2024 Community folder.
5. Start the sim and check if it appears in the expected place (aircraft list, scenery, etc).

3) The most common mistake: double-nesting
A lot of downloads unzip like this:

• Community\MyAddon\MyAddon\manifest.json

It should usually be:

• Community\MyAddon\manifest.json

So make sure you are copying the correct “inner” folder.

4) Finding your Community folder
Because this varies by install method, the safest way is to locate your “Packages” path first.
Then you’ll see both:

• Community
• Official

Do not place manual add-ons into Official.

5) After installing, if it doesn’t show up

1. Restart the sim after adding files.
2. Remove the add-on again and test the sim clean.
3. Re-add it alone, to rule out conflicts.
4. Confirm the add-on is actually made for MSFS 2024 (not only 2020).
