Short answer: yes, but with a couple of important Xbox limitations.
If you want the best Xbox console setup for MSFS 2024, I would go with the Xbox Series X. The Series S will run the sim, but the Series X is the better choice for flight sim use because it has more horsepower and is the console I would choose if you want the smoothest/least compromised experience on Xbox.
The bigger question is not really the console itself, but which of your existing controls will actually work on Xbox.
Before you buy anything, I would check it this way:
- Confirm your MSFS license
If you bought MSFS through the Microsoft/Xbox Store on the same Microsoft account, check whether it shows as owned/installable on Xbox. If it was a Steam purchase on PC, do not expect that to carry over to Xbox.
- Check the Turtle Beach VelocityOne model
If it is the Xbox-compatible VelocityOne unit, that should be the main controller you would use on the console. Make sure it is set to the correct Xbox mode if the unit has a PC/Xbox mode selection.
- Be careful with the Saitek rudder pedals
This is the part most likely to catch you out. Xbox generally does not accept random PC USB flight sim hardware the way Windows does. Saitek/Logitech PC rudder pedals are usually PC-focused and may not work directly on Xbox unless they are being supported through a compatible hub/yoke system, and even then it depends on the exact hardware combination.
- Monitors are another limitation
Xbox is basically a single-display console setup. If your plan is to run multiple monitors like a PC cockpit setup, Xbox is probably not the right direction. If you are happy with one good HDMI display, then it is much simpler.
- Use wired internet if possible
For MSFS 2024, I would strongly favor Ethernet over Wi-Fi. It removes one more variable, especially with scenery/data streaming and Marketplace/content downloads.
- Plan on internal/approved storage
Do not build the setup around slow external USB storage. Keep the sim on the internal storage or proper Xbox expansion storage if you need more room.
My practical recommendation
If you want a console-based setup and want the best Xbox option, get the Xbox Series X, use the VelocityOne as your main controller if it is the Xbox-compatible version, and assume the Saitek pedals may not be usable until proven otherwise.
If the rudder pedals and multi-monitor setup are important to you, I would lean back toward fixing or replacing the PC instead. PC is still the better platform for mixed hardware, older Saitek gear, and more advanced cockpit/display setups.
A few things to check before you spend money:
- Which exact VelocityOne controller do you have?
- Are the Saitek pedals USB, or do they connect through another controller/yoke?
- Did you buy MSFS/MSFS 2024 through Microsoft Store/Xbox, or through Steam?
- How many monitors are you trying to use, and at what resolution?
Answer those and it will be much easier to tell you whether the Xbox route will be clean and simple, or whether you would be better off putting the money into a newer PC.
