Those downloads come in the .zip file format. You must download the .zip file, save it to your desktop or anywhere else where you can find it again.

After the download is completed, you have to extract the contents of the .zip file into a temporary folder. Look for the Readme file and follow the instructions of how to install the file into FS.

on typical downloads, you'll want to just unzip the folder(s) directly into your FS9 aircraft folder. Most of the other folders will automatically be put into their respective directories. this is the standard procedure unless the readme says otherwise

Since we're in the repaint forum and we're having problems with .zip files I'm beginning to wonder whether we're all blindfolded.

First of all do not follow pilatflyr's advice, you will sooner or later suffer. Sorry pilatflyr, it's not personal.

I won't bother with the 'abucus' thing here but only with the .zip and temporary folders. It's really simple.

The files you download from the libraries are in .zip format to shorten download times. The original files have been compressed into .zip format to make them smaller.
Now you've got a .zip file downloaded, you need to 'unzip' it in order to access its contents. The easiest way is to right-click on the .zip file and select Extract All... from the drop down menu. Now, just follow the prompts.

As if by magic, the contents of the .zip file will now be inside a temporary folder, ready to be installed. How to install whatever you have in your temporary folder now depends entirely on whether you've downloaded an aircraft, scenery, textures or whatever else is available in the libraries.

The idea is to find and read all the documentation that's included in the folder. However try at any cost to avoid extracting any files directly into your flightsim, regardless of what anyone says, including the author(s) / creator(s) of the download.

Should the instructions you find turn out to be confusing, you can always ask here for clarification. The best and quickest way to do this, is to copy and paste the confusing part of the instructions here into your next post.
