For spyware scans and removal try "Lavasoft" think it's www.lavasoft.com and download ad-aware SE personal, I use Norton and scan regularly but the Lavasoft program found 156 naughty things on my PC in the first scan!

I agree with the recommendation for AdAware, but you should be aware that the majority of the items that it finds are just cookies, which are usually not really all that bad and sometimes are helpful. For instance, if you tell Windows to save your password for a site, that gets stored in a cookie. If you delete it, you will need to re-enter the password next time you go to that site.

But of course it will also pick up spy ware and other really bad things.

Download spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html along with Ad-Aware, dump your cookies, cache and history before you run them both.
If you want to run another anti-virus check go to http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp .
It's not a virus you've got spyware or have been hijacked.
Stop going to those sites that your parents tell you that you shouldn't see, bad boy!

Also, if you want to delete/screen and keep certain cookies, I would recommend http://www.analogx.com/files/cookiei.exe
Otherwise known as 'CookieWall v1.01 .' - Not a bad little 228k freeware program. http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/cookie.htm
