Is it possible to fly without ATC keeping on interupting me to 'do this' and 'do that' every 5 minutes ? this would specially be convenient for long haul flights for example: London Heathrow to Japan or London Heathrow to Manchester ?
What I sometimes do is fly the GPS path so ATC dont keep interupting me, then at 25 miles I summon ATC to give me directions to land (coz GPS wont land me on the runway) but after contacting ATC they throw me of the GPS path and I have to do another 24 miles to get to the runway.
the atc in fsx is full of suck, it's true. but if you want to fly vfr, just turn off the radio and fly around however you want. there is no virtual faa to come and spank you for it. it's just a game and you can do as you like
I will be flying a medium to large airliner and want it realistic, I know maybe in real world cockpits pilots dont constantly get bothered by ATC.
VFR sounds more suitable for small light-weight aircrafts like the cessna

On a long haul, I often allow ATC to direct me from the gate to cruising altitude. Once you have been directed to final cruising altitude, you will at some point be directed to contact another controller. If you do not contact them at that point, ATC no longer contacts you. When you get closer to your destination, as you say, contact ATC again and you will be given your landing instructions. Don't forget that that you can select your approach on the GPS and set ILS on the radio for a full ILS landing without using ATC anyway.
