Hello everyone,

I’m looking to sell my full flight simulator setup, including the PC, 3 monitors, and the controls. I bought everything a little over a year ago, but I never really got into it, and I think it’s best to sell it so someone else can get more use out of it.

If anyone is interested in buying any part of the setup and would like to know more about the PC specs, I’d be happy to share them. Also, if anyone knows someone who might be interested, or knows of anywhere that might purchase the simulator, I’d really appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

A couple of practical options (and what I’ve seen work best)

  1. Sell it as a complete package locally (best chance of moving it quickly). A full FSX “ready to fly” rig is a tough ship item, so local pickup usually gets you the cleanest sale (PC + 3 monitors + yoke/pedals/throttle). It also avoids shipping damage on monitors and controls.
  2. If you don’t get bites, part it out in logical chunks. Typically the easiest pieces to sell separately are:
    • Controls (yoke/joystick, throttle quadrant, rudder pedals)
    • Monitors (sold as a set if they’re identical)
    • PC tower by itself
  3. Take clear photos and list exactly what’s included. People will ask the same things every time, so having it all up front helps: PC specs, monitor sizes/models, exact control brands/models, and whether you have original boxes/software discs.

Before you list it

  1. Make sure you can demonstrate it boots and runs FSX (even a default flight at a stock airport).
  2. If you’re including any payware add-ons, be careful: many are licensed to you and not transferable. Generally, you’ll want to sell hardware only, and remove personal data from the PC.
  3. If the PC is included, a clean Windows install (or at least a proper wipe of personal data) is a big selling point.

A few questions so I can steer you better

  • Are you hoping to sell it as one complete bundle, or are you OK parting it out?
  • What are the PC specs (CPU, GPU, RAM, storage) and what version of Windows is on it?
  • What are the monitor sizes/models and are they all the same?
  • What controls are included (brand/model of yoke/joystick, throttle, pedals)?
  • Roughly what area/state are you in (for “local pickup” advice)?

Post the specs and I can give you a realistic way to price it and the easiest way to split it if needed.
