starting flightGear - couldn't verify developer.

i downloaded flight gear and tried to install it, but when I tried to start it. It said it couldn't install it because it could not verify the developers. Any work around?

That link from RadarMan is only relevant if you purchased either Virtual Pilot 3D or one of the other variants.

If you are talking about the FlightGear available for download from our site here, there is nothing to worry about and it's likely to be a Windows protection security feature. Perhaps there is an option somewhere that will allow you to "run anyway"?

Virtual piolot3d happens to be Flight Gear under another name.

Virtual Pilot 3D is indeed a rebranded version of FlightGear. It was also called Pro Flight Simulator:

I don't think the original poster (Timbuktoo) is using Virtual Pilot 3D though, I think he's using the standard version of FlightGear from our downloads section here:
