I know this might seem like a dumb question but I am new at this. Is there any way to make the instruments default to you home field (ILS<VOR<ADF< etc.) when you close FSX Accelater???

If you go to your K:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Flights\other folder you will find a file called. FLTSIM.FLT. Make a backup of this file (in case you make a mistake and need to restore the default) and then open the original file with notepad.
In the [Avionics.0] section, your will find the default com, nav and OBS settings. You can change these to the frequencies that you would like to be loaded everytime you start FSX.
Hope this helps,
