Asked

Hi all,

I’m currently using a PC to run FS 2020 with the Thrustmaster Captain Pack, but I’d like to switch to an Xbox Series S (it would only be used for Flight Sim).

Will it work?

Captain Pack on Xbox Series S – what you can expect

Yes and no, depending on which pieces of the “Captain Pack” you mean and how you’re using it on PC.

On Xbox, MSFS will only work with controllers/hardware that are Xbox-compatible (they have to support Xbox directly). The sim on Xbox can’t use regular PC USB drivers or third‑party utilities to make unsupported devices work.

Step-by-step: what to check

  1. Look at the exact product names in your Captain Pack (yoke, throttle quadrant, pedals, etc.).
  2. Check the box/manual and confirm it explicitly says Xbox Series X|S compatible.
  3. If any part is “PC only,” that specific unit won’t work on the Series S (even if it works great on your PC).
  4. If it is Xbox compatible, it should show up in MSFS automatically under Controls Options and you can bind/adjust it from there.

A couple of practical gotchas on Xbox

  • You generally can’t rely on external mapping tools/profiles like you might on PC—everything has to be done inside MSFS on the console.
  • If the pack includes multiple USB devices, you may also be limited by available USB ports and power (some setups behave better with a powered USB hub, but compatibility varies).

Quick questions so I don’t steer you wrong

  • Which exact Thrustmaster “Captain Pack” do you have (full product names/model numbers)?
  • Are you using yoke + throttle only, or pedals as well?
  • When you say “FS 2020,” are you currently on MSFS 2020 on PC via Microsoft Store / Steam (just so I understand your ecosystem when you move to Xbox)?
