ak 763,

I'm pretty sure my memory is not letting me down right now. I don't know about the mdl. file, but some a/c you download come with both options :

with winglet

without winglet

Look for the Kittyhawk B-737-800. Here is a nice one in KLM livery.

http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004ac&DLID=47930

If you're not a member with avsim, sign up, it's free and instantaneous.
After installing the aircraft don't discard the readme file because it includes instructions on how to edit the cfg. file to add winglets. It's easy and you can actually have the same a/c with or without winglets - or BOTH!!
There are plenty of other textures if you don't like the KLM. I once had about a dozen or so and being the greedy type every single one came with AND without winglets yeaahh!!!

Regards, Rick 🙂

Apologies, apologies... I bow my head in shame Wacko

My claim that the readme file contains instructions... (see above) was wrong.
Here's the truth - I promise:

The above a/c (see link) actually includes two textures: KLM and American Airlines retro - both with and without winglets. However, the aircraft.cfg has to be edited. If you're unfamiliar with this procedure here's what you can do.

First, backup your original cfg file.

Now we'll edit the cfg file. Delete the following text from the file :

[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing 737-800_KH
sim=737800
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=klm
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=PH-BXH
atc_airline=KLM
atc_flight_number=1123
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-800
ui_variation=KLM
description=Kittyhawk Studios 737-800
atc_heavy=0
visual_damage=1

[fltsim.1]
title=Boeing 737-800_KH_1
sim=737800
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=aaretro
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=N951AA
atc_airline=American
atc_flight_number=1123
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-800
ui_variation=American Airlines
description=Kittyhawk Studios 737-800
atc_heavy=0
visual_damage=1

Now in it's place paste the following text :

[fltsim.0]
title=Boeing 737-800_KH
sim=737800
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=klm
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=PH-BXH
atc_airline=KLM
atc_flight_number=1123
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-800
ui_variation=KLM
description=Kittyhawk Studios 737-800
atc_heavy=0
visual_damage=1

[fltsim.1]
title=Boeing 737-800_KH_1
sim=737800
model=winglet
panel=
sound=
texture=klm
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=PH-BXH
atc_airline=KLM
atc_flight_number=1123
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-800
ui_variation=KLM/winglet
description=Kittyhawk Studios 737-800
atc_heavy=0
visual_damage=1

[fltsim.2]
title=Boeing 737-800_KH_2
sim=737800
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=aaretro
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=N951AA
atc_airline=American
atc_flight_number=1123
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-800
ui_variation=American Airlines
description=Kittyhawk Studios 737-800
atc_heavy=0
visual_damage=1

[fltsim.3]
title=Boeing 737-800_KH_3
sim=737800
model=winglet
panel=
sound=
texture=aaretro
kb_checklists=Boeing737-400_check
kb_reference=Boeing737-400_ref
atc_id=N951AA
atc_airline=American
atc_flight_number=1123
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=737-800
ui_variation=American Airlines/winglet
description=Kittyhawk Studios 737-800
atc_heavy=0
visual_damage=1

You will now have both a/c with and without winglets i.e. 4 a/c in total.
You can add more textures with or without winglets by comparing the original cfg. with the one we have just created. If you have problems, just ask. Oh, btw - the aircraft will show up under Boeing in your menu.
Such a beautiful aircraft, I can't get over it! ❤️

Enjoy, Rick

hey, thanks. for the response.......yes i know about the 738's and 73G's...................................but......i just gots to have winglets on my 737-400's........................

ak 763 I failed to realise that the -400s were a priority here.
Sorry about the mistake.

As I mentioned earlier, I now nothing about mdl editing. And again from my memory - which seems to be letting me down more and more lately - I seem to recall that many readme's state that modifying the mdl is not permitted. That's why I never bother with them. But I could be all wrong and misleading others and myself - in which case it's my turn to ask for help.
So in case you find that mdls can be edited at liberty and you learn of a way to add winglets and other candy to an existing a/c, I sure would like to know how it's done! Sorry about the mess 😕 Horse

before POSKY released there 757 winglets.......in one of the fourms someone posted pics of there "757 winglets"..saying he made that or modifyed that....he didnt want to say whos aircraft it was ..but i can clearly see that it was IFDG's 757 from the pic..only because IFDG's 757 looks like the A320.....which is why i dont fly IFDG jets.....i'm not a "painter" but i'm working up a jet that used to fly around Alaska looong ago.......Wien Air Alaska 727.....if you google "Wien Air Alaska" you should come up with some pix......but since i dont know much about painting..i think its gonna look more toward the side of the "AI Aircraft".... 🙄
