Hi Peeps 🙂 I'm having probs installing a Spartan Executive Skin. I've done everything it says in the installation a few times, but alas, no result 😞 Obviously, I have the Spartan up and flying in the livery it came in, and even though I've installed other liveries successfully, this one, I just can't get to work.
Right then, after downloading and unzipping, I start with a folder...NC17616 and ofcourse the read me file. After opening the file, it now contains another one..... texture.NC17616 this contains bitmap images, I take that this go'es straight into the Spartan folder thats in the FS9 aircraft folder, because it say's nothing about it in the read me file ???
Here is the read me file.
INSTALLATION
Cut and paste the following text to your aircraft.cfg-file.
NOTE! Replace the X on line 1 with the number in order of
your file - example: if it is the third texture, replace X with "2"
---CUT BELOW THIS LINE---
[fltsim.x]
title=Spartan 7W Executive NC17616
sim=spartan
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=NC17616
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=NC17616
ui_manufacturer=Spartan
ui_type=7W Executive
ui_variation=NC17616
description=repaint by Edward Cox
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=
atc_flight_number=
---STOP CUTTING HERE---
I've done the above, and now the Aircraft CFG file now looks like this....
[fltsim.0]
title = Executive VC
sim = mspartan
model = vc
panel = vc
sound =
texture = urs
panel_alias =
sound_alias =
kb_checklists =
kb_reference = spartan_ref
atc_id =
atc_id_color =
atc_parking_types =
atc_parking_code =
ui_manufacturer = Spartan
ui_type = Executive-VC
ui_variation = Original
description = Spartan Executive-VC
[fltsim.1]
title=Spartan 7W Executive NC17616
sim=spartan
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=NC17616
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=NC17616
ui_manufacturer=Spartan
ui_type=7W Executive
ui_variation=NC17616
description=repaint by Edward Cox
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=
atc_flight_number=
As you can see above, I've changed the ( X ) that read [fltsim.x] to [fltsim1.] is this right ? considering that the one above it is a 0 (zero) ???
When I start up FS9, and go to choose the Spartan, the aircraft model comes up as ......7w Executive and the variation comes up as ....NC17616
but no aircraft
Obviously something is wrong somewhere, I know it all sounds confusing, but I've tried to explain the best I can. The skin I'm trying to use is this one found on the AVSIM site ...........

...livery for Mike Stone's Spartan Executive find the model here http://www.pmstone.com/home.php
I wasn't aware that Mike Stone had made a 'Spartan'. I take it you've got the one by Milton Schupe.
If so, the textures for the Mike Stone model won't be compatible with the Milton Schupe model.
Well spotted Tailhook 👍 my fault totally for not reading through the file description I automatically assumed it was the Spartan livery, especially with it been amongst the others. Pity really, it looks pretty good from the pic. 8th file down the page.

Well, well, well, 🙄 apparently, after searching about, Mike Stone does have a Spartan, here..... http://www.pmstone.com/AircraftGeneral.htm
11th aircraft down the list.
😂 😂 😂 I seem to be answering my own posts here 🙄 😳 🙄
I've downloaded and installed Mike Stone's Spartan, and successfully installed the chrome livery, which is what I was originally trying to do 🙄
I must admit that the panel is totally naff but, I must admit, I never thought I'd see a fully chrome aircraft in FS9. So, ...........because the panel and everything else is naff,
🤔 🤔 🤔 later peeps 😂
If you want to join the club and try out the new Spartan by Milton Shupe go there ➡ http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=spartan&FileName=&Author=milton+shupe&CatID=fs2004
The base package is the second from the top: spartan.zip.
As you can see, shiny textures are available as well.
Here is a Nav Lights Upgrade ➡ http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=80344&CatID=fs2004misc
and for good measure you might want to go by the book using this Manual/Checklist ➡ http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=80424&CatID=fs2004misc
Thanks for your time and effort Tailhook

You're most welcome fourby... I do have a little favour to ask though if I may
Should you find a packet of Gauloise lying around somewhere inside the cabin - would you be so kind and send it to me? I take it you're a non-smoker.
Much appreciate!
Here you are Tailhook, do you mean these ? 😉 http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=file&ImageID=120242
