Hello,
I am considering buying a flight simulator for a friend of mine who used to fly gliders many years ago. He is retiring soon and is considering taking it up again and I thought this may be a good gift for him.
The question is which one should I get and is it realistic enough for him to enjoy it?
I am concerned that MS Flight Sim 2004 may not really simulate thermals correctly and that the clouds would not react to the weather and make the simulator realistic from a gliding point of view. I do not fly gliders but I understand you find the thermals by looking at the clouds, is this correct?
Also I have read that X-Plane is more realistic when it comes to simulating flight.
Then there is also the up and coming FSX, I saw some screen shots of a new glider that may come with this new release, so perhaps they have improved on gliding realism for the new version.
Ok, so really I don't know what I am doing and I was hoping for some advice from all you guys on here who have probably actually used these simulators.
Thank you in advance for any advice,
Mark.
