hi, ive yet to find the problem thats causing fs9 to freeze up and i need to cross something off my list . could someone please do this for me it wont take 60 seconds .
go into programmes>microsoft games>fs9>troubleshoot>safe mode.
when its loaded in safe mode go into setting>display .
are the terrain and water sliders all the way to left ?
are some of the sliders under harware all the way to the left ?
do you get some kind of error message about hardware excelleration?

TraineeWhats your computer specification like whats the cpu, how many mb ram etc.
I don't have FS9 so I cant check but out of interest does it lock up just when your in bad weather or is it completely random? If you have a 3D accelerator graphics card check in the FS9 menu to make sure you taking full advantage of your card. If you havn't already download the latest Direct X drivers from Microsoft website.

things ive tried .
reinstalling fs9
installing 3 diiferent ati drivers
decreased cpu temp with an extra fan
tried numerous combination with autostart
reinstalled directx
reduced sound hardware accelleration
reinstalled agpsis gart drive
symtoms: sim freezes have to do hard reboot
could someone please do the favour i asked in the 1st post of this thred please , it will take less than a minute. thanks
i've done what you asked,
yes terrain and water are to the left and greyed out
also in the hardware 2 of the sliders are greyed and yes i do get that mesage about 3-d acceleration, sorry looks like you were barking up the wrong tree

You need a LOT more ram--2 GIGS!!!!!
i think ive fixed the freeze, lock up problem i was having with fs9 ,
in my ATI tools tray>hardware>smartgart. i changed the AGP speed from x8 to x4 .
ive just done a 2 hour test flight over EGYPT with no lock up and no performance drop . so what have i actually done by decreasing the AGP speed fom x8 to x4 .
