I have a new system, and decided to install FS2004 to see how it'd run. I can run on full settings fine. But the game seems awful sluggish when entering / exiting flights, changing from menus. These parts loaded faster on my older system!
If i'm flying and I press esc, it'll tkae a while to show the end flight/ continue flight menu. Or if it crash, it'll take a while to restart where I was on my flight.
My specs are more than the reccommended so I really don't know what's going on with the processing of screens
MY SPECS:
AMD 4200 x2 Dual Core 939
2gb DDR 3200 Ram
Video Card: Sapphire RADEON X800XL 256mb agp
650w PSU
If you have many add-ons that will slow the loading of the sim and the transition from one screen to another.
You should scandisk and defrag at least once a week to get the h/d in good shape.
If you have a lot of "garbage" on that drive clean it off with http://www.ccleaner.com/ .
Test you machine at www.pcpitstop.com for a full scan, free and a very safe site. I've been going there for about 5 or 6 years.
