How do you increase the time compression rate in FS2004?

The Learning Centre says go to 'options' but i can't find anything that has options on it

One way is to press the ALT key which brings up the options bar in the top left of the screen. The facility to compress time is tucked away there somewhere.

Press Alt, this brings up top menu bar as jamie said then select options. In this menu you will see simulation rate, then, choose which option you want. This also speeds up atc commands so you have to be quick or your radar service and ifr flight plan can be cancelled.
