Can i play FS2004 Without having an audio card on my comp?

You don't need a soundcard. If you can hear any sound(s) at all, like when you're playing a song or a video clip in Windows Media Player, you'll be able to play fs9 without a problem.

The fact that you don't have a dedicated soundcard doesn't mean you have no sound. It just means that instead of a soundcard, you have a soundchip built into your motherboard.

The Problem is that i can't even play ordinary sounds.. such as a song or a video clip on WMP (Windows Media Player).. when i try and play a sound or a song on my PC i get this error "unable to play back audio. No sound device was detected on your system"..

So this means i cannot play any sounds on my PC.. will i still be able to play FS2004?..

Well frankly, "IF" your computer is so old that it doesn't even have a sound chip on the mobo, I doubt you'll be able to play even fs9.

Do you have any type of speakers connected to your PC? Can you give us some specs - or if it's a brand computer such as DELL etc. give us the exact name and we might find out what that thing you've got actually is.

Have you played any other games on this PC? Did you ever get any sound before?

I was googling for Compaq Presario 061 to find a clue regarding the sound chip. Unfortunately no result. Before I forget, for running fs9 256RAM is extremely low and you'd have to add RAM definitely - you have 3 empty slots.

I can't imagine that you have no sound, your type of Presario doesn't seem to be that old. Maybe the sound has been accidentally disabled somehow.

Let's try another approach:

Go to Control Panel / System / click on Hardware Tab / click on Device Manager / ... toward the bottom of the list you'll find 'Sound, video and game controllers. Click on the < + > sign in front of it and look for anything that has to do with Audio.

I too have onboard sound - no dedicated soundcard but a soundchip integrated in the motherboard. In my case I find this entry: Realtec AC'97 Audio, that would be the chip, and further up the list I have: Legacy Audio Drivers and Audio Codecs.

See what you can find - if you have those items, I guess we'll just have to find a way to activate your sound.

Important Question: Do you have speakers of any kind connected to your computer? Is there a way you can connect headphones to your computer?

Yes, i do have Legacy Audio Drivers and Audio Codecs.. But, the problem is that when i double click on them.. the tab where it says 'Device Usage' is blank.. the options don't fall there.. but when i click properties numerous 'Audio Compression Codecs' come up.

What can i do?.. anyways please reply asap..
