Ok, so I put a legitimate copy of Windows 7 on my machine in hope that it would fix my problems with shutting off randomly. Well now for 2 weeks, I can't get FSX to install again. I keep getting this annoying message, EVERY time!!!
I'm installing it on a different drive than the C: drive, but thats how it was before so I know its not that, anyone have any ideas?
Follow this, you probably have something in your registry.

This copy of windows is fresh and never had any FS on it before.
Did you hit the "Ignore" button to see what happens.
Did you download all the W7 updates and the latest version of .NET.

internal error 2350
and the .net is up to date and still doesn't install
If deleting and letting the Sim rebuild your fsx.cfg doesn't work they a reinstall is all I can see.

it can't rebuild anything, because there is nothing there as far as a flight sim. It's a fresh install, but it still wont install. I even copyd all the info off of the DVD's, and tried that, and it still did it.
Did you follow all the steps that MS has listed in it's uninstall program.
If anything is left on the computer you cannot get a new install.
Some go as far as reinstalling Windows just to have a fresh start.
No, but I did install it on a completely empty hard drive that has never had FS on it, and it still gives me the same error message.
This appears to be a common Windows Installer error rather than an FSX problem.
Try this:
You need resetsldl.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928080/
It is a Software Licensing System Reset Tool package. Download and run that package and it will reset the keys that FSX had put in there for activation.
Had this problem many times and I had to go through this routine.
You may be using an empty hard drive, but your Operating system still have FSX keys in its registry. you need to get CCleaner or equivalent and clean your registry files from errors. Then run the Software Licensing System reset Tool so that Windows can accept the activation keys from FSX.
Arg, I tried all 3 fix's, and it's still doing it!
I finally got it to install! Know what the trick was? I had to swap both of my copys of disc 2 back and forth every time it gave me an error. It took a while, but I got it finally.
I have 2 copys of FSX because I bought my Saitek X52 online, and it came with a copy of FSX with acceleration. That worked out well for me!
Ok guys here is one for you, i just got a new laptop a few weeks ago and i am trying to install FSX but it will not go past "Lesson2.msg", i have tried to install several times but with no attempt going any further than this point, there is no error message or sound, it just stops and i have left it to work on the install overnight but no progress is made.
I have tried using several different DVD drives but still the same problem.
When i try to cancel the install it seems to freeze and the only thing i can do is stutdown the laptop.
Laptop Specs:
Model: ASUS K52f BBR9
Processor: Intel i3 2.4 570m
RAM: 4Gb
Graphics: Intel GMA HD
Windows: 7
I have been able to install several other games with no problem.
reply here if you can
