Problem with addons

Hi all,
after extensive use of FS2001 and FS2004, I went on to FSX, but the Steam Edition one.
Now, after clocking many many hours, as usual, on the default planes, I would love to put some new aircraft in.
So... came here, look for nice looking planes, downloaded them and...well... they are completly white.
Both in aircraft selection, free flight screen and, of course, in flight session.
Can somebody help me?
PS: btw, I used and double check already the installation procedure that everybody can find over here on the website, and that is perfect so...what could be wrong?
I'll give you some samples of it....

In the graphics tab, take the checkmark out of the box marked " DirectX".
That should do the job.
