FSX:SE doesn’t use a “Lockheed Martin” folder
That “Lockheed Martin” reference is aimed at Prepar3D (Lockheed Martin’s sim), not FSX Steam Edition. So no, you don’t need to create a Lockheed Martin folder, and you don’t need to install anything extra just for that.
What to do instead (FSX Steam Edition)
In FSX:SE the CH-701’s folders need to go into your FSX install folders, typically:
- Find your FSX:SE main folder (where fsx.exe lives). Common locations are under Steam, but it depends on where you installed it.
- Inside that FSX folder, copy the aircraft folder into:
SimObjects\Airplanes\
So you end up with something like:
...\SimObjects\Airplanes\CH-701\
(or whatever the aircraft folder is actually named)
- Copy any gauges to:
Gauges\
- Copy any effects to:
Effects\
(and if the package includes an Effects\Texture folder, those go into Effects\Texture\)
- If the download has a Sound or Texture folder inside the aircraft folder, those stay with the aircraft as-is.
After installing
- Start FSX:SE and check the aircraft selection menu under the listed Manufacturer/Publisher. Sometimes older freeware shows up under something generic, or the model name rather than “Zenith”.
- If FSX prompts you to trust/publish gauges on first load, allow them (otherwise you can get a blank panel).
A couple quick checks so I can steer you precisely
- Is the CH-701 you downloaded packaged as a standard “SimObjects\Airplanes\…” structure, or is it a single installer .exe?
- When you unzip it, what top-level folders do you see (for example: Airplanes, Gauges, Effects, etc.)?
- Where is your FSX:SE installed (the full path to your FSX folder is fine)?
Post those details and I’ll tell you exactly which folders go where for that specific CH-701 package.
