ETNW showing airliners — what you’re seeing is (almost always) AI traffic, not the airport itself
Hi ak311266,
ETNW “being crowded with civil airliners” typically isn’t caused by the ETNW scenery/airport file alone. In most sims the parked aircraft you see are coming from AI traffic (or a static-aircraft layer) that’s being injected globally, and the sim has no idea “this is a military-only base” unless the traffic system (or an add-on) is told to behave that way.
Before anyone talks about “rebuilding the airbase,” it’s worth narrowing down which of the two cases you have:
- AI traffic parking there because the airfield has airline-style parking spots (or parking that isn’t filtered by military-only rules), or because an AI injector is just populating available spaces.
- Static aircraft placed by a scenery add-on (these won’t taxi, won’t depart, and are usually part of the scenery model placement).
Practical things to try (depending on your sim)
- First test: turn off AI traffic/injection temporarily and reload ETNW.
If the airliners vanish, that’s AI traffic behavior. If they stay, it’s likely static aircraft baked into the scenery.
- Check whether you’re using a third-party traffic package/injector.
Many of those don’t care that an airport is “military” unless they have military models/flightplans and/or airport filtering.
- If it’s AI traffic:
The “proper” fix is usually one of these:
- Adjust the airport’s parking so it has appropriate military parking types/sizes and fewer airline gate-style spots (this is done in an airport editor for your sim).
- Provide/enable military AI models + flightplans for ETNW (so A400Ms show up instead of airliners).
- If it’s static aircraft:
Then it’s a scenery update: remove/replace the static airliner objects and (optionally) place A400M statics instead.
A couple key details needed to give you the right answer
Can you post the following?
- Which sim is this in (MSFS 2020/2024, Prepar3D (which version), FSX, X-Plane)?
- Is ETNW default, or from a specific scenery add-on? (Name/version.)
- Do the airliners move (push/taxi/take off) or are they always parked and never move?
- What AI traffic are you using (default/live traffic, AIG, FSLTL, Traffic Global, etc.)?
Once I know that, I can point you to the cleanest fix (traffic settings vs. airport parking edit vs. a scenery object removal/replacement).
