I have many flight controls programmed in FS9 using FSUIP. Can it be used in Fly Away?

Thanks for any response.

Hi Ken,

I think you mean FSUIPC rather than FSUIP.

Short answer: FSUIPC can only be used where the simulator supports it. Your FS9 control assignments are tied to the FS9 installation and the FS9 version of FSUIPC, so they will not automatically work in some other sim or program called “Fly Away” unless that program specifically supports the FSUIPC interface.

If you are talking about files downloaded from Fly Away Simulation for use inside FS9, then yes, FSUIPC can still be used because FS9 is still the simulator doing the work. Scenery, aircraft, panels, etc. from a download site do not normally affect whether FSUIPC works.

If you are talking about a separate simulator/platform named “Fly Away,” then most likely no, not directly. You would need to assign the controls again using that simulator’s own control menu, or use whatever controller interface it supports.

What I would do first:

  1. Confirm whether you are still running FS2004 / FS9.
  2. Check that FSUIPC is installed in the FS9 Modules folder.
  3. Back up your FSUIPC settings file before changing anything:
    FS9\Modules\FSUIPC.ini

  4. If moving to another simulator, do not assume the FS9 assignments will carry over. Treat it as a fresh control setup.

Also, if you have a registered copy of FSUIPC, many of the joystick/button assignments are stored in that FSUIPC.ini file, so keep a copy of it somewhere safe.

Just to be sure I’m answering the right question:

  • When you say “Fly Away,” do you mean the Fly Away Simulation download site, or a separate flight simulator/program?
  • Are you still using FS9, or are you moving to another sim?
  • Which controls are you trying to carry over — yoke, pedals, throttle quadrant, buttons/switches?

Give us that bit of detail and we can point you in the right direction.
