Scenery. Again

Guest

Hi

I'm currently creating a simulator for my university which will hopefully enable VFR flight. The simulator is based around a single unit running 3 projectors and an LCD monitor displaying the intrument panel. It's a pretty sophicated setup and is rather cool.

Problem is.. scenery. I've been scrounging the internet for days and just keep finding more and more or the stuff. I just don't know what I should do.

What I'm looking for is scenery good enough to enable VFR flight (or better 🙂 ) preferably in Aus, but UK or USA is ok if that is not possible. As you can imagine, I have the resources to purchase packages etc, and can download whatever.

Thanks in advance, hopefully I can get this thing running (and will post some pics for you all to see)

I should probably add that I am currently interested in the work from FScene for Australia, and BirdsEyeView for America.

I nearly forgot this link:

It is terrain mesh for the whole world. How detailed it is, I'm not sure, but no harm in trying it 😉

Good luck 🍻

Wow ok, those UK packages look intense. Just a quick question, what's the deal with piling different packages on top of one another. I'd imagine with those payed for packages you wouldn't be able to , but what about the downloadable ones?

By piling different packages on top of each other, do you mean downloading one scenery file, installing it, and then downloading another one for that same area and installing it to improve the scenery? If you do, then as far as I know, it can't be done. One scenery package can only be used for one area. Obviously, payware packages are going to be far more detailed than freeware ones, so if you can afford it, I would use photorealistic payware scenery.

Here is a good example of photorealistic scenery:

As you can see, it can be of very high quality 😉
