Service Pack 2

Has anyone been bold enough to install Service Pack 2 for Windows XP yet?
Does it mess with FS9?
Do Microsoft care?

Well, I have Service Pack 1. My Windows will download Service Pack 2 automatically when it's finished. If you download it right now, it probanly would have some problems. It's not finished yet. They are testing it.
I don't think that Service Pack 2 would mess with FS9.

I've seen mixed results. I'm going to wait until they (last night) release it as a Windows Update and then wait a little longer.
Why have all the headaches, let other find the problems.
My opinion.

List of problem software.

Service Pack 2 is released already, but it has problems. The Microsoft staff are trying to solve them. That's why Service Pack 2 is not finished. Everybody can download it, but they may find problems with it. Just wait a little longer, as RadarMan said, and then download Service Pack 2 when it's finished.

😕 I've just been to the update page and no s/p2
I think MS released it as a beta program so that they can iron out any problems
I've read up on it and it looks good ➡

I am also going to wait a while until Service Pack 2 is finished.
When it's ready, Windows will detect it (if you have Service Pack 1) automatically and download it.
Maybe SP2 is a beta program. I don't know. I think it is because it still has problems.
Have a look at this link. It explains everything I just said.

Go to the Windows update page you'll see that it wants to give you the full download (about 80mb). You have to take a small (probably ActiveX) download to access the new update page.
I did it last night and then they wanted me to take an automatic full download, I had to shut off auto-update just to get rid of them (MS).

What do you mean they wanted you to take an automatic full download?
When you downloaded Service Pack 2, MS started to give you updates about SP2 or other updates?

I got notified by auto update just today SP2 was ready for download. I haven't downloaded it yet. I wouldn't think it is still
in Beta if they are now putting it out on auto update but then it is Microsoft.

If you don't want it to download at Microsofts convenience then go to
Start/Run/Services.msc

Disable Automatic Updates

then when you are ready to do it your way go back and enable it again.
