how to addon textures and repaint to fsx

This is my fist post
I try to addon textures to my fsx by following the instruction gave in one of the forum in "flyaway".
I copy the textures file to the aircraft and the CFG and save it,but when I open the fsx it is not there.
Can anyone explain to me ?
I notice the forum using "window XP" but by this "window 7" is there any different in it
