TraineeNow having a problem with sound. ATC are silent. Plane sounds are fine. I have tried all variations available to me. IFR is a Pain w/o ATC sound. Sullydix@hotmail.com

TraineeSorry, no help there. Just downloaded windows 8.1 Hmmm spent a yr getting windows stuff to work on 8. FSX is on of my favorite things in life. It also is one of the most AAAAAAARRRGGGG! Thanks for your reply. Any kind thoughts would be appreciated!

Locate the folder "~/Sound/ATC" (where ~ represents the folder you installed Flight Simulator in).
Delete all the files in the folder, but leave the directory.
Insert Flight Simulator DVD 1.
Open the file D1Feat~6.cab on the DVD
Copy the largest file in the cab file to "~/Sound/ATC"
Rename the file to "USEnglishBig.gvp".
I would drop in disk #1 first and choose repair.
