Slingload tutorial bug

Agent Orange Guest

When starting the Slingload Tutorial mission in FSX on Windows 8, the mission ends before it begins: as soon as I switch my view to cockpit view (which I always do in every mission -- I use either the virtual cockpit or 2-D cockpit at all times, since I consider the use of exterior views during a flight to be cheating), the airport terrain changes to all water and the chopper sinks at once! What's going on here???

I've never attempted it.
See if this helps.

See if what helps -- using the exterior view, or auto-starting the engines before switching to the cockpit view?

I didn't watch it so I have no idea what you are saying and I don't "do" missions.
Did it help or not.

Haven't tried it yet -- right now I'm doing another mission, the FS2004 flight challenge "Flight of the Vin Fiz", which will take days to complete. When I do get back to the "Slingload Tutorial" mission, I'll try starting engines before switching views.

I know it's been almost 2 years, but I'll post this anyway in case someone else is having the same problem: To keep the terrain from changing to water in this mission, DO NOT cycle the views with the A or S keys, but jump DIRECTLY to virtual cockpit or 2-D cockpit using F9 or F10 respectively. This appears to be a bug which is set off by a specific key combination (cycling views a certain number of times before doing anything), and going directly to the desired view avoids it.
