Hello David,

Regarding your inquiry about obtaining a tower view in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (MSFS 2020), similar to that of Flight Simulator X (FSX), I'd be happy to help.

Unfortunately, MSFS 2020, in its vanilla state, doesn't offer a dedicated tower view like the one in FSX. However, the good news is that there are a few alternatives and workarounds to achieve a similar experience.

Drone Camera: The first method involves utilizing the Drone Camera feature, which allows you to freely position the camera around the aircraft, airport, or any other desired location. To access the Drone Camera, follow these steps:

  • Press the End key or navigate to the Camera menu.
  • Choose the Showcase tab.
  • Select Drone camera.

After activating the Drone Camera, you can position it near the control tower to simulate a tower view. It might not be an exact replica of the FSX tower view, but it's a reasonable workaround.

Third-party add-ons: The second option is to explore third-party add-ons that enhance the camera system in MSFS 2020. One such example is FlightControlReplay developed by Fabio Merlo, which not only brings a replay feature but also allows you to create custom camera views, including a tower view.

I hope these options help you recreate a tower view experience in MSFS 2020. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions or need assistance with other aspects of flight simulation.

Clear skies and happy flying!
