I downloaded the Douglas TBD Devastator and it shows up in my aircraft list, but I can’t get the wingfold toggle or the canopy to work.

Hi Les,
On a lot of MSFS warbirds, the wing fold and canopy aren’t wired to the “generic” sim keybinds the way you’d expect (or they’re tied to an in-cockpit switch only). Let’s narrow it down with a few quick checks.
Step-by-step things to try
1) Try the in-cockpit controls first
Some Devastator builds use only the clickable cockpit/airframe controls for these functions.
- Go into an external view and hover around the wing root / wing fold area for a click spot.
- In the cockpit, look for a canopy handle/latch and try clicking/dragging it.
2) Confirm you’re using the correct Control Profile
If your controls are on a default profile, MSFS can “sort of” work but miss the aircraft-specific assignments.
- Options > Controls
- Select your device (keyboard / yoke / stick)
- Make sure you’re on the profile you actually fly with (not “Default” unless that’s intentional).
3) Search bindings by name (don’t assume the default names)
In Controls, use the search box and try a few different terms because addons sometimes hook to different events:
- “wing” / “fold”
- “canopy”
- “exit”
- “door”
If you find something like “Toggle Canopy” / “Toggle Door” / “Exit” etc., bind it temporarily and test.
4) Check for conflicts (the most common gotcha)
Even if you have the “right” assignment, another control can be spamming an opposite command.
- In the Controls screen, use the “Assigned” filter.
- Look for anything else mapped to canopy/door/wing fold or anything that might be double-mapped on the same button.
- Temporarily clear the suspect duplicates and re-test.
5) Test with the keyboard only (quick isolation test)
If the aircraft supports the sim events, the keyboard test usually proves it.
- Temporarily unplug/disable your external controller (or switch to a blank profile for it).
- Load the Devastator on the runway and try operating the canopy/wing fold with whatever bindings you find in step 3.
A couple targeted questions so I don’t send you down the wrong path
- Which exact Devastator package is it (store name/developer), and did it come with a manual or keybind notes?
- Are you on PC or Xbox?
- Do you see any clickable canopy/wing fold handle in the cockpit/external view, or is there nothing to interact with?
- Are you trying to trigger them via keybinds/buttons, or via the tablet/menus (if the aircraft has any)?
Answer those and I’ll tell you exactly what to bind (or where the clickspots usually are) once we know which Devastator model you grabbed.
