Does the DeHavilin Dash usually fly VFR or IFR on a short trip?

There are a lot of different DeHavilland "Dash" models, but I assume you're talking about the Dash 8 as it's the only current model (other than the Dash 9 which is a Train 😂 ).
In Airline use the Dash 8 will almost without exception be flown under IFR - the only VFR elements may be that some pilot's may request Visual Approaches to some Runways, from ATC, in favourable weather conditions.
However, the Dash 8 is also operated by some Air Forces and Government Coast Guard Units, where it may be operated in Category G Airspace under VFR.
