Look it up Ace... that's what I tell my daughter.
In any event, if you have viruses, download AVG, it is free, and what I use. It offers some of the best protection ever.
Also Spybot is what I use for spyware, which is free.
Both work perfectly, have never had a problem in 6 years.
As for myspace...
The reason why people try to hack it is cause it is famous... it happens.
Key thing is to WATCH YOUR URL!!!
It should always say www.myspace.com in there. If it says ANYTHING other than that, ESPECIALLY on the log in page... DO NOT LOG IN. Myspace is really easy to copy, so the only way you can be sure is to KNOW where you are.
Facebook is what the Europeans use, not as popular in the US , but it is also not as prone to hacking like myspace is... and you can basically do the same things with it. US AIR TALES- Stories of one man's virtual life as a pilot |

i always watch the URL's when i log in it is just that i read about the viruses im getting and it said that they can be hid inside a image and then putting a keylogger onto a computer
althoug that hasnt happened to me yet so...
thanks for the help guys (and i am sorry for the out burst i had towards emerald_flag |

You've got to get a grasp on the basics here acepilot. There's are big differences between virus, spyware, trojan malware etc.
EVERYBODY needs an antivirus program and as already mentioned, AVG (freeware) does a great job but you MUST download new definitions manually. That's not a problem though if you're organized.
'Spyhunter' is one of those programs (I'm not saying it's bad) that will lure into a FREE SCAN... well, that's true and it will find many many nasties on your hard drive but to remove those, you'll have to pay, in other words, it's payware.
There is freeware available and some of it is better than payware. Try 'Spyware Terminator' http://www.snapfiles.com/get/spywareterminator.html
It gives you real-time protection and you won't have to train it. The warnings pop up when you're about to enter a suspect site and it lets you choose whether you want to block, enter or ban. You also have an option to see more... check out what the warning is all about before you decide whether you want to enter or not.
It's a great program but as it is freeware, you will have to do the updates manually. You get the drift, right? Payware=automatic Updates... ...Freeware=manual updates.
You can use both, Spybot-Search&Destroy and Spyware terminator because Spybot doesn't give you 'real-time' protection... in other words, it doesn't run in the background and therefore won't clash with Spyware Terminator. |

MySpace and Facebook are for people too lazy to make their own sites
Having your own site is much better (and safer!) |

well i've had norton before and that stinks...don't get it whatever you do, I switched over to avg(registered) about 4 years ago, and not once have i ever had problems with viruses, spam, spyware etc,etc - it has it all!
If you can, of coarse, get the paid version, but the free version is still pretty good. |
