i recently installed Tom Collins 777-300ER repaint, but after opening FS to view the texture, all i get is a black screen where the aircraft should be, and then FS closes.

i tried another texture download, installed it, same problem.

any ideas?

thank you
Tom

Firstly, do the default paints work for it ok? If they do, that is good, the aircraft itself is OK.

Secondly, post your texture file name and the aircraft.cfg modifications (usually located in the readme of the downloaded file) here, and I'll try narrow down the problem.
Please direct your complaints to the moon, they might care there.

everything else works on the FS, i downloaded a 744 texture to see if that would work and it worked fine.

and see below,

Not a good picture I'm afraid as I haven't sorted out my display properly yet.
Problem's solution? Easy
Finding this damn topic again: Difficult.....because like an idiot I was searching in the Aircraft section where it belongs.

My suggestion to you: Get with it and you'll get results!!!

Anyway, Cheeks will have no problem to point you in the right direction.

If you think you are the first joker to type silly posts here willy-nilly just to entertain yourself and not give a damn whether other members like this kind of behaviour or not, you are mistaken.
If the flightsim business is too serious and/or difficult for you, go play with your X-Box.

did you have the same problem?
Question Question Question

Did you actually read my post? - I think not... and where did you think the screenie depicting the Overland 777-300 with Tom Collins' Air France textures came from... from god?

As I said, Cheeks like myself will have no problem pointing you in the right direction as we both, like other members apply basic rules which you have yet to get persuaded to follow.

xbox?

posting it here was a simple mistake, all i asked for was a little help,
isnt that what this is for?

i dont expect someone to write that, some of us dont spent 24/7 simming, some of us have jobs, and have a life and family to pay for.

im back to simming after a long period away from it, and asking for advice so i can enjoy it that little bit more in my spare time which i deserve, and your shouting your mouth off about someone who doesnt know much about simming, and someone who posted in the wrong section by accident...

very well done, maybe your the one who should go play your xbox/ps3.

lay off, and relax abit.

ROFL. Found the problem, its this part

[fltsim.X]

and

[fltsim.X+1]

If you only have the default EVA Air 77W, that should be under [fltsim.0]

So rename the two Air France ones to

[fltsim.X] ----> [fltsim.1]
[fltsim.X+1] ----> [fltsim.2]

It's all chronological mate, just follows a standard ascending numerical order, it's the same with EVERY SINGLE FS aircraft.cfg and their repaints, because it basically just separates and orders each repaint so the sim can recognise and identify them separately.

Should fix the problem, very mandatory mistake there, this info is all in his readme, next time, I suggest you read it, it'll save you going to the hassle of having to ask here, it's a simple 5 second fix!

Hope that helped!

Oh, I meant pasting it from your aircraft.cfg, not the readme, but oh well.

Make sure the texture for the Air France is named texture.AFR, I downloaded it myself and it works perfectly fine.

OK Just double checked and re-did the install, here is what I did.

1. Downloaded from here ---> http://www.flightsim.com/kdl.php?fid=112633
2. Extract, and copy texture.AFR into SMS_777-300ER_W folder.
3. Add the flightsim.X lines into the aircraft.cfg, mine looks like this

[fltsim.2]
title=FSPAP 777-300ER AFR (No VC)
sim=Boeing777-300ER
model=
panel=
sound=GE
texture=AFR
atc_id=F-GSQR
atc_airline=Air France
atc_flight_number=236
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=777-300ER (Simmer's Sky)
ui_variation=Air France (No VC)
description=Overland Co.,Ltd. Products --- Boeing 777-300ER\n\nPaint by Tom Collins\n\nL1 Cabin Door [Shift+E] then [1]\nL2 Cabin Door Wing Fold\/Extend\nCargo Door [Shift+E] then [2]\nAPU Door Tailhook Extend\/Retract

[fltsim.3]
title=FSPAP 777-300ER AFR (VC)
sim=Boeing777-300ER
model=vc
panel=
sound=GE
texture=AFR
atc_id=F-GSQR
atc_airline=Air France
atc_flight_number=236
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type=777-300ER (Simmer's Sky)
ui_variation=Air France (VC)
description=Overland Co.,Ltd. Products --- Boeing 777-300ER\n\nPaint by Tom Collins\n\nL1 Cabin Door [Shift+E] then [1]\nL2 Cabin Door Wing Fold/Extend\nCargo Door [Shift+E] then [2]\nAPU Door Tailhook Extend/Retract

And viola, that is ALL that I did, and it works perfectly fine.

Well unfortunately, I've never gotten that error, so I'm really not aware of what to do to fix it!

Radarman's post looks pretty good, try look into that to get it to work.
