FS2004/2002 Compatibility - Throttle Issues

I know not all FS2K4 aircraft are compatible with 2K2, but on some occassions, when I have attempted to use FS2K4 aircraft, everything works just fine, except that for some unexplained reason, the throttle seems stuck on idle and won't respond either to the throttle slider on my joystick or even to key commands. Other FS2K4 models don't do this and work perfectly in FS2K4.
Is this something to do with the way the .air file setup differs?
Is it solvable?
Other than by assigning a different (FS2K2) air file from something else to the FS2K4 model?
