PAPI / VASI

Hi guys,

Is there a difference between these two?

Also, how do they work?? Are they automatic and do they change for each aircraft and weather?

VASI is when there's 2 or 3 sets of two lights in front and behind each other. red is always above white from the approach perspective.

VASI

PAPI is a modernized computer version of that, with all 4 lights being next to each other, two red and two white.

PAPI

-PAPI is seen at bigger international airports while VASI is more common at smaller airports.
