Pappy55 Guest

Hi all

Has anyone done a skin of the fictional Oceanic Airlines from 'LOST' for an L10-11? 🙂

I want to fly 815's route 🙂

Hi Pappy,

There are heaps of fictional websites with hidden easter eggs etc based on Oceanic Airlines.

Search around some LOST forums for more links,

But here is my favourite: http://abc.go.com/shows/lost
Also look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceanic_Airlines

Yeah mate I had seen that site before 🙂

I think I will do an Oceanic skin for an L-1011 if I can find a good one with good detail and a VC.

out of intrest does an L-1011 even have the range to make it from Sydney to LAX?

Thanks a lot Radarman, this is something to be studied in depth. This is from the Wikipedia article:

Producers of the 1996 movie Executive Decision filmed extensive exterior aerial footage using an actual Boeing 747 painted with the fictional airline's livery.

Here is Oceanic Boeing 747-200 in all her glory ➡ http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=oceanic-747-v2.zip&Author=&CatID=root

I wouldn't mind watching that movie one day... never heard of it before.

Hi TH,

I am also a huge fan of LOST and found this interesting website linked below where a real life pilot has used his knowlage of aviation to depict the actual crash site:

I'm downloading the Tri-Star now by the way, it should make some interesting screenies 😉

Yes.. that's the 747-200 from "Executive Decision", in which the fictional airline was also, im guessing on coincidence, named "Oceanic".

It's a great movie about a terrorist hijacking.. and then a special forces team enters the aircraft through a smaller air force transport that docks with it. Yes, it's not a very realistic plot.. but it's a good movie, nevertheless.

Awesome ending.. I won't give it away 😉

Also.. the TV series "LOST" goofed.. there's no way a fully loaded L1011 would make it from sydney to LAX. it doesnt even have close to that range. Embarassed Embarassed

Thanks TL for the link- it turned out beautifull!

By the way, have you heard the theory that Oceanic flight's are the people dropping supplys to the DHARMA workers as thier aircraft pass overhead the island?

Is the aircraft that docks with the 747 an F-117 and does the F-117 at some stage disintegrate? If so, I've seen it.

Affirmative - but at no point has it been revealed whether the flight was direct or with stop-overs. Fiji NFFN or Hawaii come to mind. But maybe this mystery is still all part of the plot.

But has anyone noticed the following: Now we're thinking that the aircraft was an L-1011 which of course is a widebody jetliner with two aisles. Maybe I've missed one, but it seems the a/c in question only has one aisle therefore it cannot be an L-1011.
Another thing: I'm almost sure that when the tail of the a/c is shown from the outside just prior to the crash, it's a T-tail. Someone please show me a picture of an L-1011 with a T-tail 😳

Pappy44 Guest

it wasn't an L10-11...it was an 777. if you remember the shots of it going down, it didn't have an engine in the tail.

The reason you think it was an L10-11 is because the set for the beach crash was of an old L10-11. Any shots of the plane in the air though are of a 777.
