Hey!

If I want the plane to be lined up right in front of the runway, which landing method should I then use? Etc. IFR, ILS?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Answered

Hi Nikolais,

IFR isn't a landing method.

You can land using via VFR (Visual Flight Rules) in which you land using the PAPI or VASI systems and other visual cues or aids.

Alternatively and more common in heavy jets, you can use one of the methods under the IFR umbrella term. This means you can perform an ILS approach, a VOR approach, an NDB approach and I believe an ADF approach. ILS is the most precision of the instrument approaches, so ILS is the answer to your question.

Try looking here for further info on them:

Hope that helps 😉
