I've seen other people with this problem but i have not seen how others have solved it... I install FS2004 and it seems to install just fine but when i start the program I get an alert that about 17 .DLLs are missing or corupt, then it closes... I've unistalled completely incuding deleting the application data in Documents and settings...I've also attemted to install in safe mode...I've even installed it on a different computer and copied the entire Flight sim folder to the computer i want to run it on... I've even tried changing cd-rom drives in case it was some anti-piracy problem... Still no luck. I get the same DLLs missing...Oh, and it works just fine when i install it on my other computer so its not the disc set... Anyone have any suggestions?
Extreme solution 😞 but seems that your OS has some problems.
If i was you i will, first of all, format my H/D and install Windows.
My opinion 😉

This would not work under any circumstances.....
It does indeed sound like a Windows problem......and I echo the suggestion to completely re-install your OS....but don't waste your time trying the above trick again.....
Good luck! 🙂
I have the same problem..
Been running it on a P4 3.0ghz for awhile now with WinXP SP2,
Previously this same problem happened and the only way i could solve the issue was to reinstall the OS on a clean formatted HDD.
This sucks obviously and i dont want to do his again this time.
Im assuming some form of windows update causes this to happen??
Any clues people before i either pull my hair out, burn my PC, or reformat?
All reinstall's i have done have been from the original disc's in perfect condition and removed all traces of fs2004 and any add-ons from both the HDD and the registry.
Thanks..
Any clues that would help me?
I have tried re-extracting the modules, no luck there.
Tried a e-install after removing all add-ons, fs2004 and all reg entries...still no luck.
And does anyone actually know whats causing this to happen?
I have changed nothing, use original fs2004 discs to install on a genuine and validated installation of Windows XP (sp2)
Help me please..Or do i have to wait till FS10? (Whens it due btw)
Mojo,
You have to be sure that all of the sim is uninstalled, try this way.
Well thanks for the link mate.
I followed the instructions to the letter, removed what was asked, Re-booted the PC, then reinstalled FS2004 with Nortons Anti virus and Internet security turned OFF from the original 4 disc set.
Yet i still have the same problem
I'm growing tired of it to be honest, and its a shame as the main reason i bought my PC was for FS use.
My respect for Microsoft is fading fast also.
Why is it that i can spend nearly an average weekly wage on a genuine Microsoft operating system, and genuine Microsoft Flight simulator only to be told i have to PAY for support if a problem such as this arises?
That's a bit cruel i reckon..
Sorry RANT over
This is really puzzling me ❓
Anyone have any further clues?

Having Spent most of my Sunday messing around with the same problem; uninstalling, clearing the registry re-installing etc etc... I nearly through my PC out the window.
I hate it when pc's do this. Everything is fine until.....bang! you have encountered a problem.... oh god why?
Anyway, before I destroyed my PC, I did some further research and sorted the missing .DLL problem.
It is so straight forward I nearly cried!
Here goes:
Right click on the FS9 shortcut icon.
Click PROPERTIES
Click the COMPATABILITY tab
CHECK the box that says 'run this programme in compatability mode'
Select WINDOWS 2000 (I have XP but do it anyway)
Click APPLY then OK and your done.
FS2004 now works like it always did.
Hope this has made your day matey. 😀
Well i'll be jiggered!!!! 😳
Zulu-Victor, you my friend, are a bloody ledgend!!
😛
Admin, may i suggest this thread be made a sticky?
(Or at the very least the solution should be made sticky)
What a very wierd problem though.
As i think i stated earlier, i suspected a windows update caused this problem somehow, but not exactly sure.
I for one would like to know how and why it happened in the first place.
Anyway, i feel very lucky you stumbled across this thread Zulu-Victor, and give you my sincere thanks 😂
I was almost ready to give up on FS2004.
Owe ya one mate 😉
You're very welcome mate. I know how frustrating these things can be.
The only thing is that now I've tried to re-install FsPassengers, I get the same error messages: FsPassengers.dll etc etc...
If I uninstall it, FS2004 works fine, but won't load with FsPassengers.
So if anyone knows how to get around this one, I would be grateful.
Gald you're back on FS2004. Maybe we will fly on line sometime.
Cheers
Zulu Victor
