Hi everyone
Ever notice after you land the Tower will tell you to "... turn next taxiiway"?? Sometimes this can be confusing. Some airports its straight-forward, as you can only turn left or right, not both, so its simple then
But in some airports, its possible to turn both, example, Heathrow, or an even worse example, Boeing Field
Boeing Field is very annoying, they tell you to turn next taxiway, so you turn left because that is where you see most planes (assuming you land on runway 31L that is). But then when you clear the runway and wait to get clearance to taxi, you realise that you should have gone right, because you have to go the other side of the runway again, but then when you follow the taxiiways you end up crossing the runway again, so you end up on the side that you originally "mistakingly" turned on.
If you understood what I was saying there you will know how annoying it is
ATC should say something like "Turn right next taxiiway" etc.
indeed
progressive taxi?

Doesn't work until you've left the runway.
.....just one of the slight imperfections we have to live with
it shows you the general direction, does it not?

I have been told to "Exit runway when able" and "Turn next taxiway" but have never been given a direction to turn. I think FS is probably accurate, the tower neither knows nor cares where you are going. They just want you safely, and quickly, off the runway. If you're in a real plane you presumably have charts and at least some idea where you are going on the ground. If you're in a commercial passenger aircraft with passengers you better know exactly where you are going. Hopefully someone with more flying experience can set us straight.
Exactly. The AT/GA parking may be on different sides or ends of the field. You may just be making a stop to re-fuel. You may want to taxi back round to takeoff again if back-taxiing isn't approved.
Unfortunatley, M$ didn't include the Crystal Ball Module for ATC.
Download the airport diagrams, or zoom into the airport in the FS map or FS Navigator if you have it, to get an idea of the destination airport layout as part of your flight planning.
Real world, unless ATC direct you take a specific exit, you pull off the runway at the most convenient point then ask for permission to taxi to wherever you need to get to.
Maybe Microsoft will improve this is FSX. They may say something like "turn left next taxiway"
