Stick to one thread, don't make a new topic every time just hit REPLY to answer. You're talking about taking off in the AV8 Harrier, straight up. Yes you can but first you have to download or buy a Harrier. Try looking at https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads.html 🙂

For FSX you can follow several manners to position your aircraft where you want  before a flight.
- choosing a free flight, you select the current location, once selected, you can in the bottom , Choose runway/Starting position. From this box you are offered all available rw's to start , all gates and all parking places on that airport.
- you can also enter the Flight planner, choose your airport for departure and you will come to the same screen with the options to choose a starting position
- I do use LNM (little navigation map, a free flight planner) to plan my flights. in LNM you can in the flightplan select the starting position on your selected airport, it can be a RW, a gate or a parking place. You can safe the flightplan and load it in FSX. FSX will place your aircraft on the selection location .
there might be other tools, like simbrief, navgraph which can help you to select starting positions. try it out.
enjoy flying
